This is a great new board so please join me in congratulating these leaders! It's always an honor to be elected by your fellow coaches in the only statewide organization in AZ representing HS and JC basketball coaches. 

 

This is the first year we have representatives from Northern and Southern AZ as well as small school coaches and a girls coach.  Mike Wirth and Todd Fazio also join this year's board for 5AI and II and both have already done much for the ABCA. 

 

I'd also like to give a special thanks to the outgoing officers who have given their time and effort to improve this great game of basketball over the past year:  President Gary Ernst, Vice President Joe Bustos, Vice President Stephan Neal.  Greg Sessions and Randy Walker remain as Treasurer and Secretary.

 

The new officers have two main duties.  One is to vote at ABCA board meetings and two is to help their conference boards to build strong basketball advisory committees for AIA issues and advisement.  Please support your conference/division officer by volunteering to serve as a region rep on your conference basketball committees this season. 

 

If you send me (arthall3@cox.net) your name to volunteer as a region rep I will forward them to each conference officer as appropriate and keep track of the region counts.  The final say on region reps for each committee may be approved by the AD/Basketball Committee Chair appointed in each AIA conference or each region committee in some cases.  The ABCA will help fill the gaps in participation where needed.

 

We've also made some upgrades to our web site so stop on by and check out the new polls we will be featuring from time to time.  Our goal remains to have "coaches only" polls for each conference on a regular basis. There is currently a 2A and 3A Pre-Season Top 5 Boys Poll we have launched on a trial basis.  All coaches may vote for the current polls.
